In this article I will explain how to assemble the British 24 hour Ration box. And this way you can use it in the field or show it on display. The box comes as a flat pack with the post and that is why you should assemble it first to use it.
Step 1 – What do you need?
• The flat pack of the 24 hour Ration box
• Some glue
• Small glue clamps
Step 2
Take the underpart of the box and fold the cardboard along the fold lines, like shown on the photo.
Step 3
Apply some glue on the tabs.
Step 4
And stick the tabs on the sides. Hold them in place with a pair of glue clamps.
Step 5
In step 5 we do the same as in step 2 to 4 with the upper part of the box. That is the part with “The 24 Hour Ration” on it.
Step 6
Take the underpart of the box and apply some glue inside all around, as shown on the photo.
Step 7
Now fold and stick the long piece of cardboard inside of the lower part of the box.
Last step: Fill your 24 hour Ration box
And now your box is ready. Ready to be filled with the rations, so you can use it at your next events. (In the future I want to make the materials to make the contents of this box too).
After filling the box, close it with Paper tape, such as tape what painters use. And the last thing what could be done is to give the box a waxed finish. If you want to know “How to wax a carton box”, I will write in an other how to…
And before you know it you made boxes for a whole group or even a platoon.
I bought two of these off you. Really impressed when assembled. Just wondered what method you would use to wax them.
Hi Glen, I have planned to make a “How to…” about waxing these boxes. Maybe I will make a video to explain it. So there is more to come…
A how to n waxing the boxes would be great
